Exit Polls Indicate Strong Victory for NDA in 2024 Elections

Most exit polls indicate that PM Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister for third consecutive term. ABP (C-voter), however, has predicted a neck-to-neck fight

As the Election Commission’s embargo on publishing exit polls, which had been in effect since April 19, was lifted today at 6:30 pm following the conclusion of the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections, various media outlets swiftly released their exit poll results.

Exit polls, which are surveys conducted with voters immediately after they leave polling stations, aim to predict election outcomes.

Most exit polls predict a significant victory for the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, suggesting that PM Narendra Modi is likely to secure a third consecutive term as Prime Minister. The Lok Sabha comprises 543 seats, with 272 needed to form a government. According to Republic Bharat (P Marq), the NDA is expected to win 359 seats. India News (D-Dynamics) projects 371 seats for the NDA, while Republic Bharat (Matrize) estimates between 353 and 368 seats. TV 5 Telugu’s exit poll also predicts 359 seats for the BJP-led alliance.

NDTV India forecasts 365 seats for the BJP-led NDA and 141-161 seats for the opposition INDIA bloc. In contrast, ABP (C-voter) predicts a close contest between the NDA and the INDIA bloc in many states, estimating the NDA’s win at 535-383 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 73, and his party, the BJP, are widely anticipated to retain power. The Congress, which has faced electoral defeats and defections, is part of the opposition bloc INDIA challenging the BJP.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured 303 seats, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieving a total of 352 seats. The Congress won 52 seats, with the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) totaling 91 seats.

This election, the BJP aims for 370 seats and, with support from its allies, hopes to exceed the 400-seat mark. The Lok Sabha has 543 seats, with a majority requiring 272 seats.
