Muslim man beaten to death over allegations of mobile theft in Jharkhand

A 21-year-old man named Samiul Sheikh was allegedly beaten to death with sticks and then strangled in Jugigarhiya village, Pakur. The incident resulted in three individuals being detained: Suraj Marandi, Anil Hembram, and Babudhan Murmu.

According to a written complaint filed by the deceased’s father, Saidul Shaikh, Samiul Sheikh was accused of mobile theft. These allegations incited a violent mob attack, culminating in his death. The case has been formally registered at the Mufasil police station.

Sanjeev Kumar Jha, the officer in charge of the Mufasil police station, confirmed that Samiul Sheikh was severely beaten and strangled to death on charges of stealing a mobile phone. Following receiving the complaint, the police detained the three individuals implicated in the attack.

The body of Samiul Sheikh was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing, with the police actively working to gather more evidence and testimonies to ensure justice is served.
