Maulana Mahmood Madani, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has criticized Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen), accusing him of creating division among people. In an interview with journalist Sushant Sinha, Madani said, “Muslims do not see Owaisi as their leader.”
Madani pointed out that Owaisi’s party did not win any seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, where they contested 95 seats but only got 0.43% of the vote.
Madani also disagreed with Owaisi on issues like the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He said, “Muslims from countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh should not be given citizenship in India. The government can implement NRC if needed.”
Sushant Sinha shared the interview online, saying, “Maulana Madani strongly supports the NRC. Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah should take note.”
Owaisi, a Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, has often criticized the BJP, but Madani’s comments have sparked debate. Some accuse Madani of being softer on the BJP in recent years, though he denies this and says he still fights for the Muslim community’s issues.
